(0.1m*0.1m)*(1100W/m^2)*(0.17 Efficiency)=1.87W. The ~1W already includes the efficiency. And its not 2-5% but usually 14-19%. With 4 Cells and ideal illumination, you can charge a phone (1.5A@5V). Thats 20x20cm. Thing is, thats with ideal illumination, midday with the area oriented towards the sun. So for a real phone charger, I would recommend 4 times the area (40x40 cm). With crystaline PV cells. For thinfilm (e.g. bendable), add another factor of two-three.
